"ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES"

God commissioned Paul to teach and to testify, publicly and from house to house; "repentance toward God, and faith toward Jesus Christ." (Acts 20:20-21)

In obtaining entrance into Heaven, Repentance and Faith go hand in hand.  It takes both.

Let's look at "Repentance toward God" first.   Repentance is a change of heart and mind regarding the breaking of God's Laws (SIN).  It is not a flippant "I'm sorry" because you got caught, or it didn't work out the way you thought it would.  It is a sorrow and grief to your soul realizing you have sinned against the Holy God.  Repentance creates a desire to live a life free of all sin, not just the ones you may be willing to give up.  Repentance is not a "New Years Resolution".

Have you come to the place where you hate sin?  God does!

Now let's look at:   "Faith toward Jesus Christ".

Why Jesus Christ?

Because Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son.  The only one who was ever born, and lived, and died without any sin of His own.  He was the only one qualified to redeem our  sinful souls.  He is Perfect.

What happens to those who don't repent of their sins and trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour?

God says in Ezekiel 18:20 "the soul that sinneth it shall die".  In Psalms 9:17 He says that because we have sinned we are destined for Hell.

Does God want me to go to Hell?

No He doesn't, in 2 Peter 3:9 God says that He is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance".

John 3:16 says:  "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

How do I know Jesus will save me from Hell?

Jesus says in John 6:37  "him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out".

How do I come to Jesus?

Believe you are a sinner and Jesus Christ is the Saviour who was crucified on a cross where He died for your sins, was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (1 Cor. 15:3-4)

Romans 10:9-10 says "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon name of the Lord shall be saved."

Won't you call on Jesus Christ in repentance and faith today?
